Blueworx Releases Voice Response 7.3 for Linux Print

The Blueworx team continues to develop the capabilities of Blueworx IVR for Linux with the availability of Blueworx Voice Response 7.3, featuring additional key elements for management and configuration.


Blueworx Voice Response (BVR) for Linux 7.3 includes significant enhancements for clustered and private Cloud environments, making the management of multiple machines and applications easier than ever. In this release, Blueworx introduces two new components, the Blueworx Resource Manager and the Configuration Profile Database. 


Blueworx Resource Manager


Blueworx Resource Manager (BRM) establishes a new central point for configuring, controlling and querying Blueworx Voice Response on one server or a cluster.


BRM is responsible for the following:


  • Provide BVR with configuration details required to handle a call
  • Read/write data to the Configuration Profile Database
  • Collate monitoring data from multiple BVR instances
  • Provide configurable limits to the number of channels available per application
  • Channel license management
  • A foundation for future features

Configuration Profile Database


The Configuration Profile Database (CPD) introduces a significantly improved method of storing data for BVR and BRM. With a centralized database, configurations can be shared across multiple instances of BVR, while at the same time significantly improving the speed and flexibility of the platform as the amount of data increases.


Per-Call Configuration


Together, these new features allow BVR to be configured for each individual call rather than configuring an entire system.  This offers significantly more flexibility, particularly when multiple applications and/or multiple tenants share the same cluster.  A call is routed into any BVR instance that resides within the cluster environment, which then queries BRM on how it should handle the call, and receives details on how to configure itself for just the single call.  Benefits include:


  • Application and configuration can be added or changed on the fly while calls are in progress with no downtime.
  • Scaling and managing applications in a clustered environment is significantly easier.
  • Adding capacity simply requires adding generic instances of BVR to the cluster; BVR can then immediately handle any call for any customer or application on the cluster.

Flexible Cluster Architecture


The three main components, BVR, BRM and CPD have been designed to be independent allowing them to run together on the same VM, or distributed across multiple Virtual Machines. This can provide the simplicity of a single VM or the ability to dedicate VMs to each component to improve performance; the choice is yours.

  • A command-line utility for configuring the cluster through BRM
  • Support for RedHat 7 / CentOS 7
  • Minor bug fixes
